Clint Haight
Owner & President
Clint Haight brings over two decades of hands-on construction and leadership experience to Custom Projects and Homes. Starting in the trades during high school, Clint earned a degree in Construction from Kirkwood and spent six years mastering both new home construction and remodeling before founding the company. For nearly 20 years, Clint has led with a commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and client satisfaction.
As Owner and President, Clint oversees every aspect of the business—from project vision to final execution—ensuring each build reflects the company’s core values of integrity and excellence. When he’s not on site, Clint enjoys spending time with his family at their cabin in southeast Iowa, where they waterski, wakeboard, and fish.
Mark Russell
General Manager
Mark Russell is a seasoned construction professional with over 40 years of experience in both residential remodeling and custom home building. His career began immediately after high school and took shape in Dallas, where he spent 17 years learning from top-tier remodeling contractors. After returning to Iowa, Mark expanded his expertise with a 23-year tenure at a local custom homebuilder.
At Custom Projects and Homes, Mark thrives on collaborating with clients from the initial design through to completion, helping turn dreams into reality. He values the trust that’s built along the way and still finds excitement in each new project and the unique challenges it brings.
Chad Dahlem
Project Manager
Chad Dahlem transitioned into construction after more than 20 years in IT project management, bringing with him a sharp eye for detail, logistics, and innovation. Inspired by his own home remodel, completed by Custom Projects and Homes in 2015, Chad made the leap into the industry, offering clients a dual perspective as both a project manager and a past customer.
At CPH, Chad uses his background to streamline processes and guide clients through the complexities of construction, ensuring clarity and communication every step of the way. He’s also passionate about woodworking and built the crib used by all three of his children—a family heirloom in the making.
Tracy Grecian
Project Manager
With 36 years in the trade, Tracy Grecian brings unmatched field expertise and a dedication to excellence. He began his construction career at the age of 17 and has since led hundreds of successful projects. Tracy works directly with clients, designers, and subcontractors to bring visions to life with precision and care.
Known for his trademark beard, once crowned best in the industry, Tracy blends professionalism with personality. One of his proudest contributions has been his work with Habitat for Humanity, where he’s helped create homes that make a lasting difference.
Herlindo Hernandez Jr.
Lead Carpenter
Herlindo Hernandez Jr. has over three decades of finish carpentry experience, sparked by trades classes in high school. His career spans both residential and commercial construction, where he’s built a reputation for precision craftsmanship and attention to detail.
At Custom Projects and Homes, Herlindo specializes in finish work that elevates every project, most recently completing all of the detailed woodwork at the Pickle Palace in Cedar Rapids. A devoted soccer fan and frequent traveler to Guatemala to visit family, Herlindo brings discipline and pride to every inch of his work.
Damien Welbes
Laborer
Damien Welbes is a hardworking and versatile member of the Custom Projects and Homes team, with nearly a decade of flooring experience before joining the team. Since coming on board, he’s immersed himself in carpentry, learning the trade from the ground up.
Damien is often the first on site, protecting homes and handling demolition to set the stage for successful builds. He’s passionate about applying what he learns to renovate his own home—one room at a time. Known for keeping job sites clean, safe, and efficient, Damien is the quiet engine behind many of the team’s smooth starts.
